Yoshinoya expands Calif. locations

Yoshinoya has announced the opening of its newest restaurant in Covina, Calif. The location brings the total number of restaurants to 97 in the United States.
The new Yoshinoya location in Covina held an official grand opening celebration on Oct. 17 complete with free collectible tea cups, gift cards, cameras, MP3 players, a gaming system, music and their famous beef bowl eating contest that was open to rice bowl lovers with an appetite for competition.
"We continue to receive strong demand from San Gabriel Valley residents for additional Yoshinoya restaurants and our fresh, affordable and wholesome Japanese style food," Scot Hobert, vice president of franchise development and sales, said. "The San Gabriel Valley is a natural expansion area for us as franchisees are looking for open territories to grow the Yoshinoya brand."
