Yum China Holdings Inc. has opened its 300th Pizza Hut Burger Bar in China, reaching the milestone in Wuhan, Hubei province, according to a press release.
Since launching the side-by-side module in late 2025, Pizza Hut China has opened more than one location per day on average. The quick-service model places the bars next to existing Pizza Hut stores, requiring light investment while sharing resources with the parent locations.
"We entered the burger category two years ago with Pizza Dough Burgers, which have been well received by consumers. We are now taking the business to the next level through Pizza Hut Burger Bar, while continuously refining the module to meet the diverse needs of our consumers," Jeff Kuai, general manager of Pizza Hut China, said in the release.
The focused menu centers on beef burgers featuring parmesan-and-parsley buns made from pizza dough, alongside new options like a teppan-style black pork burger and a sizzling grilled chicken burger with egg. To mark the 300th opening, the Wuhan location introduced a limited-edition Crayfish Crispy Lotus Root Cheeseburger designed to reflect local tastes.
The brand aims to have 500 to 600 Burger Bar locations by the end of 2026, representing about 10% of Pizza Hut's nearly 5,000 stores in China. Pizza Hut's burger category is expected to exceed 1 billion RMB in sales in 2026, accounting for 5% to 6% of the brand's sales in the country.
Following Yum China's acquisition of Pizza Hut brand ownership in mainland China on Aug. 7, the company is also accelerating overall expansion. Pizza Hut now targets more than 800 net new openings in both 2027 and 2028, up from its previous goal of 600.
