Yum to offer $1 million Kentucky Derby prize
April 30, 2007
Business First: Yum Brands Inc., the presenting sponsor of the Kentucky Derby, will give a $1 million bonus if this year's Derby winner beats Barbaro's winning margin of 6 1/2 lengths.
Barbaro won the Kentuckey Derby in 2006, but was euthanized in January after complications from injuries sustained during the 2006 Preakness Stakes.
The prize for the challenge, dubbed the "Yumfecta," will be split evenly between the horse's owner, trainer, jockey and The Barbaro Memorial Fund.
