When it comes to tough markets, there's likely few tougher than the streets of New York City. But that's exactly where The Halal Guys was born and raised, beginning as a street cart food concept focused on the city's Muslim taxi drivers, who needed great on-the-go food that complied with the dietary restrictions of the faith.
Flash-forward 30 years and now one of the original street cart's owner's son is the CEO of the company, in charge of a burgeoning 90-plus location national chain that still holds Halal food sacred, but has vastly widened its customer base to include many thousands of customers of every belief and background. They all, however, share a love of Middle Eastern cuisine done right.
