Rising prices have affected all aspects of the economy, however, few business sectors have been impacted as much as the restaurant industry. According to the CPI, prices for food away from home have risen by 6.5% since August 2022.
Furthermore, rising food prices are only part of restaurant operators' challenges. The National Restaurant Association's 2023 State of the Industry report indicates that labor costs were up 18.3% throughout 2022, with 89% of restaurant operators saying those costs were a significant challenge for their businesses.
