The Culver's restaurant chain hit the 500-location mark today with two openings in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Wixom, Mich.
"Since both restaurants opened on the same day, both can celebrate helping us reach the 500 mark," CEO Craig Culver said in a company news release. "On this the year of our 30th anniversary it's amazing how far we've come from opening our very first restaurant in Sauk City, Wis. I'm so happy for our franchise partners, team members and our guests who have brought us where we are today."
Culver's was founded on July 18, 1984, by Craig Culver, his wife Lea, and Craig's late parents George and Ruth Culver. There are currently nine family-owned restaurants, and all other locations are owned and operated by independent franchise partners.
In 2013, Culver's opened 28 units, including three in Florida. The chain expects to add an additional 35 restaurants in 2014.
