KFC pulls plug on fast casual concept

KFC has closed the doors to KFC Eleven.

April 27, 2015

KFC has closed the doors of its fast casual concept, KFC Eleven, which opened in August 2013, in Louisville, Ky. The restaurant which served flatbreads, salads and rice as opposed to the standard fast-food offerings of KFC, closed April 24, and the building is up for sale, according to WHAS 11 News.

"I can confirm that KFC U.S. has made the decision to close our KFC eleven, an in-market test kitchen restaurant on Bardstown Road in Louisville," Spokesman Rodrigo Coronel told the station.

"The restaurant allowed us to garner great insights around positioning, menu innovation, kitchen and asset design, and our service model. We…will…start applying the various insights to KFCs around the country."

The company said it is offering the KFC Eleven employees a chance to transfer to other restaurants.
