Subway suspends Jared after child pornography investigation

The chain "suspended its relationship" with spokesperson Jared Fogle following an FBI raid of his Indiana home, which has not resulted in a charge or an arrest.

Guilty until proven innocent seems to be the guiding principle of Subway's relationship with spokesman Jared Fogle regarding a federal investigation of child pornography.

The chain Tuesday "suspended its relationship" with Fogle following an FBI raid of his Indiana home, which has not resulted in a charge or an arrest, according to the Washington Post.

Fogle has starred in Subway's weight loss commercials for more than a decade, the Post reported.

This spring, Russell Taylor, executive director of Fogle's foundation, was arrested after investigators discovered more than 400 child pornography videos at his home. Subway stated Fogle's investigation was likely related to Taylor's and its decision to split with Fogle was "mutual," according to the Post.

“Subway and Jared Fogle have mutually agreed to suspend their relationship due to the current investigation. Jared continues to cooperate with authorities and he expects no actions to be forthcoming. Both Jared and Subway agree this was the appropriate step to take,” a Subway spokesperson told QSRWeb in an email.

According to an emailed statement from Fogle's attorney, Ron Elberger, to the Post, Fogle has not been "detained, arrested or charged with any crime or offense."

Subway pulled Fogle's page from its website by late Tuesday, according toUSA Today.
