A doughnut-maker might seem the last company to get behind New Year's resolutions, but that is indeed what Krispy Kreme said it's doing with its new "Minis." The downsized doughnuts are — according to a news release — Krispy Kreme's way of helping customers "Cheat Sweet" while still not going too overboard.
Krispy Kreme added the Minis to its permanent menu this week for the many dieters that include a "cheat day" as part of their plans. The brand explained that these shrunken original glazed Minis weigh in at under 100 calories each, letting dieters enjoy the best of both worlds.
But customers can also delve into the higher-calorie Minis in variations like chocolate- or strawberry-iced with or without sprinkles, depending on the extent of the "cheat."
"Too many people bail on their New Year's resolutions before they are even halfway through January," Krispy Kreme CMO Dave Skena said in the release. "That's no good. Sometimes a mini-indulgence, or cheat, is all you need to help you stick with it. So, we miniaturized our most popular doughnuts. A little Krispy Kreme goes a long way."
The brand is also hosting "Mini Mondays," which allow customers to get a free Mini from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays at Krispy Kreme locations.
