Alabama KFC owner blames Obamacare for closure

A KFC restaurant in Chelsea, Ala., has served its last bucket of chicken, with the owner citing the Affordable Care Act as part of the reason for closing. According to My Fox Alabama, the restaurant, owned by Mike Taunton, first opened in 2000. Fifteen employees were affected by the decision.

Taunton, who also owns three other KFCs, said the decision to close was tough, but the mandated health care law will cost him an estimated $70,000.

"It would have been a hit too big for our company to make. So in dollars and cents this is a decision we had to make was to close the restaurant and shrink our company," Taunton said in the story.

He plans to offer some of the employees jobs at his other restaurants, and mentioned he may also open another business at the same location.
