The National Alliance for Hispanic Health issued a statement this week on the FDA move to eliminate artificial trans fatsfrom foodservice industry products over the next three years:
"The FDA today has shown it is the nation's consumer health protection agency. The FDA's action to end use of artificial trans fat is essential to improve our health. Taking artificial trans fat off the 'generally recognized as safe' list means consumers will be better able to avoid trans fat in restaurants and processed food. The move will save thousands of lives and improve the nation's health and wellbeing," said President and CEO Jane L. Delgado, of the National Alliance for Hispanic Health, a Hispanic health advocacy group.
