Arby's brings Nebraska something 'deer' to its cornhusking heart

January 12, 2017

Nebraskans can sure make a stink when there is the potential for venison on the dinner table. Just ask Arby's leadership.

After the chain's wildly successful multi-state venison sandwich LTO last October and November, it got an earful from social media followers of the brand begging Arby's to bring the traditional game meat to their locations, according to a news release.

Last fall, the brand featured the special sandwich at 17 restaurants in a handful of eastern US states, where deer hunting is the near-religion that the sport can be, including Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Georgia. All of those states have very popular deer-hunting seasons where the fleet-footed creatures often grow to larger populations than local vegetation can sustain.

When the LTO was over,  Arby's saidd they had all kinds of social media clamor from customers nationwide, who hold deer meat dearly. One state, in particular, made more noise than any other: Nebraska.

That's why Arby's said in a news release today that it is bringing the sandwich back for a very limited time offer at two Nebraska chain locations in Lincoln and Omaha next week. Those about-to-be-slammed stores include:

  • 5540 O St. location in Lincoln, on Jan. 18.
  • 13610 West Maple Rd. in Omaha, on Jan. 19.

If you work at either of those locations, get some rest. If you're in the area of those two Nebraska stores, prepare for a wait because venison fans are expected to line up early for the sandwich next week, which includes a thick-cut venison steak and juniper berry sauce on a toasted roll.
