Arby's joins the app-mosphere

July 19, 2010

Arby's, which was later than most quick-service restaurants in joining the social media atmosphere, has since jumped into the digital age with both feet. On Monday, Arby's launched its first web application called "Juniorize."

The app enables users to re-create photos of themselves or their friends into 3-D versions of the Arby's Junior character. Users also are able to interact with the character and have him send a customized audio/video message to friends.

The app was created specifically to promote the restaurant's new Jr. Deluxe Value Menu sandwich.

The app can be accessed through Facebook or the Arby's website, and is shared through e-mail and social networks, and embedded on personal blogs or sites. It was created by Initiative’s Innovations group and is powered by Oddcast.

The Jr. Deluxe sandwich features roast beef, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise on a toasted sesame seed bun. Arby’s Value Menu, launched in April, offers its signature items starting at $1.
