Auntie Anne's is officially open for business at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The hand-rolled soft pretzel company now has 39 airport locations, furthering its goal of expanding beyond the traditional shopping mall setting.
Auntie Anne's first airport unit opened in 1992 in Pittsburgh. It has since spread to some of the country's largest hubs, including Chicago's O'Hare International, Dallas/Forth Worth and McCarran International in Las Vegas.
The company will open its fourth airport location of 2010 with an additional JFK International unit in New York City by the end of October.
Auntie Anne's also has airport stores in Honduras and Thailand.
“Airports are the modern crossroads of the world. No venue offers such a perfect mix of traffic and exposure for our on-the-go product lineup. Auntie Anne's on-site baking provides travelers with a touch of home and satisfying snack and meal options," said Brian Boycan, director of strategic development for Auntie Anne's.
The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International location is owned and operated by The Grove, Inc., a food and beverage brand operator with 29 years of airport concession experience. The company operates 52 businesses in airports throughout the U.S.
The latest Atlanta store will include Auntie Anne's full menu, including a variety of pretzel flavors and dips, pretzel dogs, pretzel stix, signature lemonades and Coca-Cola products, as well as the newest menu item, the pretzel nugget.
