A&W connects with Packers receiver Greg Jennings

January 13, 2011

To celebrate the National Football League playoffs, Green Bay Packers wide receiver and playoff team captain Greg Jennings and A&W Restaurants have teamed up for the Perfect Pair campaign.

The Perfect Pair with Jennings and its Papa Burger offers an opportunity for guests to receive an A&W Papa Burger single for 85 cents if the wide receiver, who wears the jersey #85, scores a touchdown in his game Jan. 15 versus the Atlanta Falcons.

The offer is valid at participating locations.

"With football playoff fever sweeping the country, we want everyone to be a winner with our Perfect Pair offer," said Barry Westrum, chief marketing officer, A&W Restaurants. "Greg is Green Bay's No. 1 receiver in terms of receiving yards and touchdowns, and our all-American Papa Burger is our No. 1 seller."

If Jennings crosses the endzone, fans can receive their 85-cent Papa Burger single at participating A&W Restaurants on Jan. 17. To redeem the deal, customers need to ask for the “Jennings Burger.”

A&W Restaurants has partnered with Jennings since 2009, when the chain offered 85-cent Papa Burgers to Green Bay, Wis., residents if the receiver scored during a game. The program’s popularity allowed for it to expand into 2010 and throughout the entire state of Wisconsin. Now it is a nationwide promotion.

A&W and Jennings also recently teamed up to tackle hunger with the "Hunger Drive For 85" food drive, benefitting Wisconsin Food Banks of Feeding America.

Through his Greg Jennings Foundation, the receiver has been actively involved with assisting underprivileged children and families. In 2008, his foundation built its first Habitat for Humanity house in Milwaukee. He is a 2011 John Wooten Leadership Award Finalist, recognized for his play, community and extracurricular activities that best exemplify the leadership of NFL legend John Wooten.
