A&W 'floats' us one

A&W has launched a new promo that gives customers a way to do something nice for someone else, while simultaneously doing something nice for themselves, with its second annual Float-A-Friend contest that started this week, a news release said.

Customers who opt for the giveaway can get free root beer floats for the next year for someone special — and for themselves —  simply by nominating that individual via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or online. Winners will be chosen at random each week through November, and on a monthly basis thereafter.

Winning nominators and nominees will each receive an A&W Bear Bucks gift checks equal to the value of approximately 52 floats.

"We first 'floated the idea' of float-a-friend last spring, and it was so popular that we are bringing it back this year. …" A&W Marketing VP Sarah Blasi, said in the release. "It is always great to win something, and everybody loves A&W root beer floats"

Every A&W float starts with a frosted-over mug of A&W root beer made fresh in the restaurant from cane sugar, water and the same proprietary blend of herbs, bark, spices and berries used in the original 1919 recipe. The root beer is "floated" with creamy vanilla soft serve.
