BBI revives Rex's Chicken, first store opens in Oklahoma

Beautiful Brands International (BBI) has opened the first Rex’s Chicken, located at 111th and Memorial in Bixby, Okla. The opening is part of a development deal between BBI and master franchisee Curtis Branch to develop Rex's Chicken and FreshBerry Frozen Yogurt Cafe throughout Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas, Missouri, Texas and Arkansas.

Rex's Chicken was a popular regional quick-service brand since it first opened in an Oklahoma gas station 1951, but all locations had closed by the time BBI obtained the rights to Rex’s in 2008. The franchising company aims to revive the brand's popularity and introduce it to new regional markets and ultimately around the world.

"Since its early days, Rex's Chicken has become synonymous with crispy bite-sized chicken, fry bread and home-style sides that are absolutely out of this world," said David Rutkauskas, BBI founder, president and CEO, in a news release. "We're simply continuing the legacy in Bixby by reviving an iconic brand that has tremendous customer appeal and a winning future as a time tested franchise."

The agreement with the master developer calls for the opening of 550 units of Rex's Chicken and FreshBerry Frozen Yogurt Cafes in six states. With more than 10 years experience in the wireless communications industry, Branch has committed substantial capital to aggressively develop the FreshBerry and Rex’s Chicken brands and tapping their enormous market potential.
