Boardwalk stretches into Virginia

December 16, 2010

Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries has signed a development deal with new franchisee Koteswara Aluri to open five units throughout the next four years.

Aluri’s company, Boardwalk Fairfax LLC, will open the first restaurant in April at the West Springfield Shopping Center in Springfield, Va. Real estate sites are currently being evaluated for the second restaurant, which will be located in Fairfax County.

Boardwalk has locations in Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, Pennsylvania, California and Florida. Its expansion continues in these markets, and development plans are also in place for new units to open in New Jersey and Michigan. The company has 160 new restaurants in development nationwide.

Aluri is an entrepreneur with investments in the hotel, financial and banking industries.

"There are three reasons why we chose Boardwalk over its competitors. First, I found its fresh burgers and fries much tastier and bigger than other chains. Second, the choices in menu appeal to a wider section of people. Third – and probably most importantly - is because Boardwalk Fresh Burgers and Fries presents a clean and colorful ambience, rather than the dull, boring and greasy atmosphere I found in the other fresh burger places,” Aluri said.
