Bojangles' and its customers across South Carolina have raised $42,018 for South Carolina Future Minds, a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting teachers and public education.
As the founding sponsor of Teacher Appreciation Month in South Carolina, Bojangles' held an in-store fundraiser May 20 through June 2. As part of the effort, customers purchased $1 and $5 paper apples that were displayed in the restaurants to honor teachers — past and present — who have made a difference in their lives. The money raised will help South Carolina Future Minds provide financial support for the more than 700,000 students currently in the state's public education system.
During Teacher Appreciation Month, Bojangles' also provided all South Carolina teachers a Bojangles' promotional gift card with a "secret" value of anywhere from $1 to $100 and gave all South Carolina teachers a free Legendary Iced Tea or other beverage with their purchase at any of the more than 100 restaurants throughout the state.
"Bojangles' is honored to present this donation to S.C. Future Minds and its efforts to support our amazing teachers and the more than 700,000 students in the state's public education system," said Randy Kibler, Bojangles' president and CEO. "Each year we look forward to recognizing the dedicated men and women who provide our children with the knowledge and encouragement they need to be successful and are excited to be a partner in this important initiative again next year."
In addition to sponsoring Teacher Appreciation Month, Bojangles' is a major supporter of the state's Teacher of the Year program, having donated more than 12,000 books to the schools and classrooms of District Teachers of the Year since 2010. This year, teachers were honored with a book celebration held at a Bojangles' in their district. The restaurants treated the teachers as well as their colleagues, friends, family and students to a celebration complete with the brand's menu staples.
