Bojangles and Hi Auto have signed a multi-year extension of their partnership to continue expanding Bo-Linda, the AI-powered drive-thru ordering system now operating at nearly 500 Bojangles locations. According to a news release, the platform processes more than 1 million orders per week with a 98% success rate. Considering its success, Bojangles has plans to add another 100 locations by mid-2027.
The extended agreement will focus on expanding Bo-Linda's capabilities, including dynamic upselling that adjusts recommendations in real time based on drive-thru queue lengths. When lines are longer, the system prioritizes quicker-to-prepare items to help capture additional sales without slowing service or increasing labor needs. Its existing upselling technology also factors in daypart, weather and inventory.
"The system is a rare tool that improves the guest and employee experience at the same time, and it's been extremely well-received by both," Richard Del Valle, CIO and chief of staff at Bojangles, said in the release. "Bo-Linda now processes more than a million orders a week across our system at a 98%, or better, success rate. This has given us the confidence to continue and expand Bo-Linda."
The partnership also includes an upgraded integration with Global Payments' Genius platform through a new XPI connection, providing real-time connectivity between voice ordering and the point-of-sale system. The upgrade is designed to address latency and reliability challenges associated with scaling AI voice ordering across hundreds of locations. Bo-Linda also supports order accuracy at dual-lane drive-thrus by pairing each order with an image of the vehicle that placed it. When lanes merge, employees can use the images to verify orders and reduce mix-ups during busy periods.
Bojangles named Hi Auto its "Legendary Supplier of the Year" in 2025, marking the first time the restaurant chain awarded the distinction to a technology partner. To date, Hi Auto provides AI voice-ordering technology for quick-service restaurant drive-thrus and operates in the United States, United Kingdom and Australia, powering more than 1,000 stores and processing over 100 million orders annually.
