Burger King Canada rolls out Angry Poutine

Burger King Restaurants of Canada Inc. is offering customers a twist on classic french fries by rolling out the Angry Poutine and Poutine with Bacon items.

The Classic Poutine, basically french fries covered with melted cheese and gravy, has long been a popular item at BK Canada restaurants. Canadians order more than 78.6 million servings of poutine each year.

Burger King Canada is building on the success of the Angry Whopper by introducing the Angry Poutine, which is Classic Poutine with the addition of jalapeno peppers, crispy onions and Angry Sauce.

The Poutine with Bacon starts with the Classic Poutine and adds a load of bacon.

"We see an opportunity to become the destination for Canada's favorite dish by reaching the growing demographic of poutine lovers," said Cameron Loopstra, senior marketing manager for Burger King Restaurants of Canada Inc. "These new poutine options build on our already successful Classic Poutine by incorporating our guests' two favorite taste profiles – the signature angry taste and bacon."

The company hopes the new limited-time menu items will grow its 10 percent stake of total poutine servings from coast to coast.
