Burger King Restaurants of Canada Inc. has introduced a new variation of its classic Whopper sandwich. The Maple BBQ Whopper combines thick hardwood smoked bacon, 100-percent real Canadian cheddar cheese and gourmet maple BBQ sauce.
"By introducing premium menu items like the Maple BBQ Whopper we are giving guests a whole new reason to visit our restaurants," said Lucy Todish, director of marketing for Burger King Restaurants of Canada Inc. "The indulgence factor and quality of our new Whopper sandwich choices have proven to be true winners with Canadians."
The Maple BBQ promotion also includes the Maple BBQ Original Chicken Sandwich, Maple BBQ Tendercrisp Chicken Sandwich and Maple BBQ Poutine, the newest addition to the expanding Poutine menu at BK.
The full Maple BBQ lineup is available for a limited time at participating restaurants across Canada.
McLamore Foundation fundraising effort underway
The Burger King McLamore Foundation, formerly the Have It Your Way Foundation, and the charitable arm of the Burger King brand, announced the launch of its first-ever Spring Fundraiser in support of the Burger King Scholars program. Beginning today, restaurant guests can donate $1 at participating locations in the U.S. Guests will receive a graduation-themed paper icon for their donation, which includes two coupons for free soft serve cups or cones.
The Spring Fundraiser runs through June 10 and is one of the largest in-restaurant fundraising efforts hosted by the McLamore Foundation in support of education. The coupons may be redeemed at participating restaurants across the U.S. through July 9.
The Burger King Scholars program was created in memory of BK co-founder James W. McLamore.
"Through the Spring Fundraiser, we all have the opportunity to help support higher education for deserving students in the communities where we work and live, and bring McLamore's vision of building brighter futures to fruition," said Andrea Tejada, executive director, McLamore Foundaiton.
The inaugural Spring Fundraiser promotion is sponsored by Mars Foodservice USA.
In addition to $1,000 awards, this year's program scholarship structure also will include four $5,000 regional scholarships, one $25,000 King Scholar award and three $50,000 James W. McLamore Whopper Scholarship awards. Students may use scholarship funds for two- or four-year college degrees, as well as for accredited technical and vocational programs.
