Burger King today said it will open restaurants in the Baltics, including stores in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.  The company said in a news release that the three Baltic states are among the few remaining European nations that the chain does not have a presence in.

"We are excited to develop beautiful new Burger King restaurants and introduce guests in the Baltics to our iconic brand featuring our great-tasting food with Tallink Grupp" Burger King/Popeyes EMEA President David Shear, said in the release. "We are confident that guests will enjoy our world-famous flame-grilled flavor, including our iconic Whopper sandwich, and experience our brand their way through personalized digital innovation."

Tallink Grupp was also the group that actually launched the first floating Burger King three years ago aboard a cruise ship. Now it has the exclusive development rights for the brand in Baltic countries and said it will open the first of many Baltic locations of the brand  in Estonia this winter.

Each restaurant license in the development agreement specifies each will remain open for 20 years, beginning with that first one in Tallinn, Estonia this year. The first Latvian and Lithuanian units are slated to open the first half of next year.
