Burger King launches revised app on McDonald's doorstep ... literally

Burger King has a new promotion that it vows will turn "more than 14,000 McDonald's into branches of its brand instead." For a limited time, when a customer goes within 600 feet of a McDonald's restaurant, a news release said they can order a Whopper for a penny on the revamped BK App. 

The so-called Whopper "Detour" works by geofencing McDonald's locations across the country. If a guest is inside one of these geofenced areas and has the new BK App on their device, the app will unlock the promotion. 

Once the order is made, the user will be "detoured" away from McDonald's to the nearest Burger King for retrieval of their order. 

It is all, of course, part of Burger King's promotions to relaunch the revised app which now allows ordering ahead of the visit. The Detour can be redeemed once between now and Dec. 12 at Burger King locations nationally.
