Burger King is the favorite when it comes to the most popular fast food drive-thru in the U.S.
That's the prime finding of a Confused.com study identifying the most popular drive-thru in every state by search option, according to a press release.
The battle of the drive-thrus is tough, with consumers having an abundance of choices, but Burger King took the top spot for 2021. It's been the favorite drive-thru over the past 12 months in these six states: Colorado; Connecticut; Missouri; North Carolina; Utah and especially Hawaii, where searches for Burger King have increased by 600% since 2020.
Both KFC and White Castle are the second most in-demand drive-thru across the USA, showing the biggest increase in search trends in five different states.
KFC has seen the biggest increase in trends over the past year in five states including New Mexico, Maine and Alaska. In particular, the states of South Carolina and Alabama searched for "KFC drive thru" the most with a 100% increase in demand for the Colonel's fried chicken in the last 12 months.
White Castle has kept its crown in California (by search option), Nevada, Florida, New Jersey and in Indiana, which saw a 600% increase in search demands over the past 12 months.
The top 10 drive-thrus that have decreased the most in search results include: Tim Hortons; Boston Market; Starbucks, Shake Shack; Carl's Jr.; Culver's; In-N-Out; Steak n Shake; Krispy Kreme and Hardee's.
Despite seeing the third highest decline in trends, Starbucks is actually the nation's ultimate drive-thru based on number of search volumes alone. Starbucks has an average search volume of 33,160 per month across the whole of the U.S.A. — more than any other drive-thru in our study. It was also the most searched for a drive-thru in 48 out of 50 states.
