Burger King and Popeyes have new head chefs. Both have been promoted from within, according to a press release.

Amy Alarcon has been appointed head chef for Burger King, U.S. and Canada, following 18 years as a culinary leader and head chef at Popeyes.

In her new role, Alarcon will lead the Burger King culinary strategy, including menu innovation, product development and quality standards across the brand. She will report to Joel Yashinsky, CMO at Burger King.

"Chef Amy is one of the best and most highly respected culinary leaders in our industry," Yashinsky said in the release. "She joins Burger King at an exciting moment in our journey as we elevate food quality, taste and our overall culinary excellence."

Robert (Bobby) O'Brien has been appointed head chef for Popeyes, U.S. and Canada, following 17 years as a culinary leader within Popeyes. Working directly under Alarcon, O'Brien was instrumental in shaping the brands' menu strategy, elevating product quality and ensuring the brand's Louisiana flavors and culinary traditions remain front and center.

"Chef Bobby is a proven culinary expert and trusted brand leader who deeply understands what makes Popeyes unique and special," Bart LaCount, chief marketing officer at Popeyes, said in the release. "He has had a strong influence on the menu we are proud of today and his commitment to excellence makes him the right successor to continue our brand's focus on craveable, Louisiana flavors and iconic chicken."

Popeyes and Burger King are owned by Restaurant Brands International.
