Burger King will begin selling its chicken sandwich wars player, the Ch'King, June 3 nationally, with a push that will ultimately save customers some cash as the brand will throw in a free Whopper with chicken sandwich orders placed via its website or app, according to a news release.
Burger King said it spent two years developing its hand-breaded chicken sandwich which comes on a potato bun with pickles and a signature sauce. Burger King's player in the poultry sandwich race also can be ordered in a spicy version, that features a kicked-up glaze, or as a deluxe sandwich with lettuce, tomato and no pickles.
The QSR said tests of the sandwich have yielded the kind of positive feedback that pushed the nationwide sandwich launch forward.
"Our guests said it best, our hand-breaded Ch'King sandwich is our greatest yet," Ellie Doty, Burger King North America CMO, said in the release. "We said we would create a delicious hand-breaded chicken sandwich that was worth the wait, we just didn't anticipate that it would turn out quite this good."
The free Whopper offer is valid until June 20 and Burger King said customers must apply the coupon before placing their orders.
Burger King, based in Miami, has more than 18,800 locations in more than 100 countries and U.S. territories.
