The man who was promised free Burger King Whoppers for life, after being locked in a store bathroom, is getting his beef in cash after the burger chain decided to settle a lawsuit.
Curtis Brooner sued Burger King last month claiming the chain pulled out of a deal to give him a free Whopper every week for life. He went to court seeking the meals or cash equivalent, and Burger King is paying him $9,026, according to a Willamette Week report, to end the legal claim. Brooner was inadvertently locked in a store restroom due to a lock mechanism snafu for one hour.
"Our long national nightmare is over," Brooner's lawyer Michael Fuller told the publication. "Today Burger King agreed to pay our client's demand in exchange for the dismissal of his lawsuit."
