Burger King testing trans fat-free oil
January 30, 2007
MIAMI — Burger King Corp. has begun in-restaurant testing of several trans fat-free cooking oils, the company announced. According to Burger King marketing vice president John Schaufelberger, the company is on track to begin a national rollout of trans-fat-free cooking oils by late 2008.
Burger King plans to meet New York's trans fat-free requirements in advance of the company's national rollout. The initial phase of the city's ban, which covers oil and shortening used in frying and margarine spreads, takes effect July 1.
