Burger King UK has purchased 74 restaurants from franchisees Kari Limited and Teresina Limited, according to a CityA.M. report.
The purchase gives Burger King UK 266 units, nearly half of its 533 UK store count. The brand plans to grow to more than 700 stores within the next four years.
Chief executive Alasdair Murdoch called the purchase "an important milestone."
"We believe that we have a strong expansion pipeline and are well positioned to take advantage of the clear market opportunities ahead," he told the news outlet.
The brand opened 48 restaurants in 2021 — 19 new restaurant openings and 29 acquired sub-franchised units.
