Long John Silver's has added a "downhome-style" LTO for the summer — a homestyle buttermilk cod, a news release said.
Its rendition of the dish drifts on to the menu May 29 and drifts back out again on Aug. 27.
"The light flavor of the cod balances really well with the tangy flavor of the buttermilk," Long John Silver's Culinary Innovation and Quality Assurance Vice President Peter Czizek said in a news release. "It has a big crunchy bite, and the light, flaky fish smooths it out. It really is delightful."
The hand-breaded homestyle buttermilk cod is made with wild-caught Alaskan cod and served with natural-cut fries and hush puppies for $5.99.
The northwest Pacific fresh-caught fish is flash-frozen on the boat. It is also free of antibiotics, hormones, GMOs, additives, artificial color or flavors, according to the release.
