Jimboy's Tacos will be honored this Sept. 25 as "Sacramento Jimboy's Day," by the brand's hometown Sacremento County, California. That, of course, is cause for celebration and will be marked by Jimboy's Tacos with a $2 Original Ground Beef Taco at participating Sacramento locations, a news release said.
The 65-year-old brand started as a food trailer on Lake Tahoe, under the operation of the founder, Jim "Jimboy" Knudson, who created that first Original Ground Beef taco. Today, the chain serves nearly 7 million of those to its customers, equal to 13 tacos every minute.
"It's truly an honor to be recognized by the great city of Sacramento for Jimboy's long-standing commitment to this community and the people who have helped our restaurants thrive for nearly 65 years," Jimboy's Tacos North America CEO Bob Andersen, said in the release. "We owe much of our success to the residents here, and for us to be formally recognized as an integral part of the city of Sacramento is one of the greatest honors we, as a brand, could receive."
Jimboy's has 40 locations operating in California and Nevada. The chain plans to grow to 100 stores by 2020, and 500 locations by 2028.
