Captain D's unveils new design prototype

November 13, 2013

The Captain D's in Oakwood, Ga., was built from the ground up in the brand's new "Beach Model Design," making it the first restaurant in this image in the 520-unit system.

The location also includes a new equipment line, as well as outdoor seating. It opened last week and is the first of a three-unit deal with veteran franchisee Jim McClure.

McClure opened his first Captain D's location about nine years ago in Dahlonega, Ga. Since then, Jim and his wife, Val, have built their operations to include four other Captain D's locations under the name VJM Seafood.

"We are very excited about the direction that Captain D's is taking. Sales have been great – with a large increase in traffic and resulting profit margin," McClure said. "I have been a franchisee for about nine years. Right now, the leadership we have at the corporate office is the best that I've seen. It was an easy decision to go in and sign the agreement to open more locations."

The Oakwood Captain D's also includes the brand's new "Fire Grilled Menu," and new menu boards, which will be implemented systemwide in Q1 2014.

"We couldn't be more pleased to unveil the new Beach Model Design in Oakwood," said Michael Arrowsmith, chief development officer. "Everyone at Captain D's is focused on continuing to offer the best possible opportunities for success to its franchisees, and the newly constructed Oakwood store not only articulates the vision of our new look but embodies the future of the brand."
