Carvel makes donation for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts

December 18, 2012

Carvel Ice Cream has donated $50,000 to the American Red Cross for Superstorm Sandy relief efforts. The funds raised support the ongoing Red Cross response to the disaster and will be used in affected communities through local Red Cross chapters.

Regional Vice President Mike DeStefano presented a check to the Red Cross at a Carvel shoppe in East Islip, N.Y., that had been impacted by the storm. Carvel has more than 250 shoppes in the Northeast region.

Carvel held a free ice cream day in November and, during the event, sold coupon books for $3 to help raise funds for the donation.

"The devastation and loss from Sandy is heart wrenching and we hope our efforts brought a little comfort to those affected," said Scott Colwell, president of Carvel.
