Casey's General Stores Inc. said IHOP President Darren Rebelez will assume the role of its president and CEO effective June 24. She'll also join Casey's board, according to a news release. Rebelez succeeds Casey's CEO Terry Handley, who is retiring after 38 years with the company.
Rebelez brings more than 25 years of business leadership experience focused on operations, marketing and merchandising for large corporations in the convenience store, fuel and restaurant industries. At IHOP, a sub-brand of Dine Brands Global, Rebelez oversaw operational performance and segment earnings growth, digital strategy implementation and brand growth to IHOP's current status as the largest full-serve restaurant brand by unit count in the nation.
Rebelez has served as IHOP president since 2015 and spent nearly eight years as COO and executive vice president at 7-Eleven Inc. He also served in management with ExxonMobil and Thornton Oil Corporation. He is a graduate of Westpoint and the University of Houston, and is a Persian Gulf War veteran.
Casey's operates 2,100 convenience stores, serving pizza, bakery items and made-to-order sandwiches in 16 Midwest states.
