Checkers & Rally's has a new prototype that significantly reduces the footprint — shrinking a location from 1,008 square feet to 570 square feet, according to a press release.

The compact design offers greater flexibility for entrepreneurs looking to break into prime real estate markets with lower investment costs. Key updates include the option for a single drive-thru, allotting more space to accommodate additional parking and providing flexibility for dining room additions where the store owners choose.

"We are constantly looking for ways to enhance both our business model and restaurant design for our franchisees and guests," Chris Tebben, CEO of Checkers & Rally's, said in the release. "The new 2025 prototype is designed to do just that by reducing construction costs, lowering land requirements, and increasing operational efficiency. This is a crucial step in ensuring our restaurants remain competitive in today's fast-paced QSR landscape while promoting operator and consumer satisfaction."

Kitchen operations are simplified and efficiency is improved, enabling quicker service to guests.

"We are always seeking ways to make Checkers & Rally's a smarter investment for our franchisees, and the 2025 prototype is a direct result of that effort," Robert Bhagwandat, senior director of franchise development at Checkers & Rally's, said in the release. "By lowering land requirements, cutting construction costs, and enhancing operational efficiencies, we're creating a model that makes business ownership even more accessible."

Checkers & Rally's has more than 700 restaurants.
