Chick-fil-A and The Great American Bagel are among five new brands that Silicon Valley air travelers will soon have to choose from as they travel through Mineta San Jose International Airport. This comes after San Jose City Council approved a six-year contract extension for HMSHost valued at $267 million, a news release said.
Other brands coming on include Shake Shack, International Beer Union, and Trader Vic's. The council also approved a minimum capital investment of $6 million that will help build and reconceptualize a number of restaurants, including WSE Group Inc. in the airport's A and B terminals.
"We look forward to opening these leading brands along with enhancing some existing restaurants for
travelers to enjoy for many years to come," HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Michael Price said in the release.
Chick-fil-A and The Great American Bagel are headed to Terminal B, while Terminal A's existing Gordon Biersch will be expanded and the Starbucks store near Gates 1–5 will be expanded to serve the growing number of travelers using that concourse. HMSHost, in partnership with WSE Group, Inc., will further enhance Terminal B with Trader Vic's as a full-service restaurant and a compact Trader Vic's Outpost to serve travelers' grab-and-go needs.
HMSHost operates several restaurants at SJC — such as the Shark's Cage Sports Bar & Grill and Smashburger — that provide original dining experiences to travelers, the release said.
