Chick-fil-A ready for oatmeal launch

July 20, 2011

On Monday, Chick-fil-A will join the QSR oatmeal wars with the launch of its new multigrain version of the item.

According to the Atlanta Business Journal, the item will be sold as an 8-ounce entrée for $2.49, and can also be chosen as part of the Chick-fil-A Breakfast Meal, along with a small coffee and medium fruit cup for $5.65.

The chain's oatmeal consists of steel-cut oats, rolled oats, flax, buckwheat flour and whole wheat flour and will be slow-cooked in kettles. Toppings include cinnamon brown sugar, roasted mixed nuts such as almonds and pecans, or a dried fruit blend.

Without toppings, one serving contains 120 calories and 2.5 grams of fat. With toppings, it has up to 290 calories and 11 grams of fat.

Woody Faulk, Chick-fil-A's vice president of brand strategy and design, told the Business Journal that the new offering is being launched in response to increasing customer demand for healthy breakfast alternatives. It will join recent menu additions such as the yogurt parfait, fruit cup and multigrain bagel as part of this effort.
