CKE partners with Sony Pictures for new movie

CKE Restaurants Inc., the parent company of Carl's Jr. and Hardee's, has announced a partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment for the promotion of the new movie, The Green Hornet, starring Seth Rogen. The movie will be released in 3D on Jan. 14.

"The Green Hornet film is a great fit for Carl's Jr. and Hardee's customers," said Brad Haley, executive vice president of marketing for CKE Restaurants. "Our target audience of 'young, hungry guys' are big fans of Seth Rogen, cool cars, comedy and action films, so what's not to like?"

Customers and fans can participate in online contests and win limited-edition movie gear, including The Green Hornet collector’s glasses, various Sony electronics and Carl's Jr. and Hardee's gift cards.

CKE Restaurants has planned an aggressive advertising campaign for the new partnership, including a TV commercial with Rogen and Jay Chou, who plays Kato in the movie.

Starting Nov. 17, customers can purchase a collectors-edition Black Beauty keychain, the car featured in the movie. The keychain comes with a "Save Some Green" value pack, including coupons for Sony Entertain products and Carl's Jr. and Hardee's food prices. In addition, Carl's Jr. and Hardee's will offer limited time food and kid's meal toys inspired by The Green Hornet.

To build upon the excitement of the upcoming movie, the Black Beauty car will tour the nation, stopping at some Carl's Jr. and Hardee's restaurants.
