Rumor has it that Coca-Cola and KFC have agreed to open branches in Pyongyang, North Korea. Singapore's Straits Times reports that company executives from both brands were in the city earlier this month, per the invitation of a North Korean investment group.
The companies could be open in the poverty-stricken country by the fall.
Interestingly, the republic, which is officially socialist, has been adamant about shutting out American symbolism, leading many outsiders to consider the country as a totalitarian dictatorship under the leadership of Kim Jong-II. North Korea has the most militarized population per capita in the world and is also considered the world's most isolated country.
