Arizona-based Cold Stone Creamery is actively seeking an Australian-based franchise partner to launch the brand in that country. According to StartupSmart.com, the chain plans to launch stores across Australia once it has a master franchise agreement signed.
Cold Stone currently has more than 1,400 units in 18 countries.
The Australian plan includes some risk. Other ice cream concepts, including Baskin-Robbins, have struggled in the country. Late last year, Allied Brands Ltd., the Australian franchisee of Baskin-Robbins, lost its rights for the brand. To rebound, parent company Dunkin' Brands appointed a new general manager for the market.
Eddy Jimenez, vice president of international development and logistics for Cold Stone's parent company Kahala Brands, told StartupSmart that the chain will not suffer the same fate.
