Cold Stone Creamery and the Make-A-Wish Foundation have teamed up to help make an 11-year-old girl’s dream come true by hosting the “World’s Largest Ice Cream Social.” Cold Stone and Make-A-Wish have been partnered since 2002, raising more than $3.6 million in donations.
Katie, who is from Tampa, Fla., has a life-threatening congenital spinal-cord condition. She was inspired to become this year’s Cold Stone Creamery wish kid after attending last year’s social. Katie's wish was to be the Cold Stone Tastemaster and she was responsible for creating her own ice cream flavor.
During the month of September, every Cold Stone store in the United States will sell paper wish stars for $1 each. This month-long fundraiser will end with the ninth annual “World’s Largest Ice Cream Social” on Sept. 30.
During the social, Cold Stone locations will give away 3-ounce portions of Kate’s Creation, a caramel apple ice cream mixed with graham cracker pie crust, chocolate shavings and apple pie filling, from 5 to 8 p.m., while encouraging guests to make a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
“Each year, I’ve had the pleasure of working with various wish kids, but this year I was able to be part of a child’s wish, which was such a memorable experience,” said Ray Karam, Cold Stone Creamery senior tastemaster. “I want to encourage everyone to come and be part of Kate’s wish. You get free ice cream and help a great cause – it doesn’t get better than that.”
