McDonald's global same-store sales may have been struggling recently, but is French fries haven't lost their luster to American consumers. According to a new Omnibus survey from YouGov, 34 percent of Americans rate McDonald's fries as the best burger chain fries.
Burger King (10 percent) and Five Guys (9 percent) were a distant second and third, respectively. Wendy's and Arby's fries each received 7 percent.
According to a YouGov news release, the top beef burger went toBurger King and Five Guys, both favored by 15 percent of respondents. Second was Wendy's (14 percent). In-N-Out Burgers received 9 percent of the vote, while McDonald's burgers were favored by 7 percent of respondents.
Other brands considered were Arby's, In-N-Out, Hardee's, Jack in the Box, Carl's Jr., Whataburger, Nathan's Famous and White Castle.
Americans also ranked their favorite breakfast, with McDonald's coming out on top for 17 percent of resondents, followed by Burger King, with 16 percent. New York residents, however, favored Burger King for their morning pickmeup, with 19 percent.
New Yorkers have a different perspective
New York varied for a number of QSR preferences, according to YouGov. For example, New Yorkers ranked Chipotle as their favorite brand – 17 percent for the five boroughs and 24 percent for Manhattanites. The rest of the country favored Chick-fil-A, with 11 percent. (There is only one Chick-fil-A restaurant in that market).
Chipotle also topped the NYC list for healthiest fast food option, rated most healthy by 18 percent of New Yorkers and 28 percent of people living in Manhattan. Subway is rated healthiest fast food by 19 percent of all Americans.
Americans also think of Chick-fil-A (10 percent), Baja Fresh (8 percent) and Arby's (7 percent) among the healthiest chains.
