Milwaukee-based Cousins Subs awarded four high school students $12,000 in scholarships as part of its inaugural Wisconsin Sports Awards Scholarship.
Brianna Messner of Seymour, Wis., and David Holzer of Hartford, Wis., were the grand prize winners of $5,000 scholarships, and Courtney Kalous of Menomonee Falls, Wis., and Jace Simonson of Richland Center, Wis., were awarded $1,000 scholarships at the GKB Events Wisconsin Sports Awards.
The scholarships were funded through Cousins Subs' Make It Better Foundation, a nonprofit charitable organization established by Cousins Subs earlier this year.
"Cousins Subs has a longstanding tradition of commitment to the communities we serve," said Christine Specht, president and COO at Cousins Subs. "This scholarship program is an exciting addition to our support of youth education and health and wellness, and a perfect example of the kinds of programs we want to support."
A total of 534 applications were received from throughout the state for the scholarship contest.
