Milwaukee-based Cousins Subs Make It Better Foundation awarded $4,000 to three local charities—Hope Center of Waukesha, the Severson Sisters – Super Girl Program of Menomonee Falls and the Friends of Saint Catherine Residence of Milwaukee, the company announced.
The Hope Center, an organization that provides 10 free articles of clothing a month to a person in need, received $1,000 in grant support to fund the organization's clothing shop.
"This grant will allow us to provide new socks and underwear for our guests who have a need for themselves or their family members," said Ralph Zick, executive director of the Hope Center, in a statement. "More than 5,500 guests are served each year at the Hope Center and at no cost to them."
The Severson Sisters – Super Girl Program provides girls in third through eighth grade with self-esteem enhancing tools, tips on how to develop and maintain healthy relationships with their peers and action plans on how to handle bullying situations in life that match their own personalities, the announcement said. The organization aims to help girls become confident women and leaders in their communities. This grant will help pay for fees and curriculum for 40 girls.
The Friends of Saint Catherine Residence, which provides high risk, low-income women and their babies supportive housing, will use the grant to fund improvements to its kitchen, including new hoods for two stove top ranges, new microwave ovens, and new floor and counter tiles.
The Make It Better Foundation is a nonprofit organization established in 2013 to improve welfare and quality of life in communities served by Cousins Subs. It's areas of focus are health and wellness, hunger and youth education.
