Culver's introduces American Humane Certified chicken

September 6, 2011

Culver's has introduced a new antibiotic-free chicken at all locations. The premium, natural-cut chicken breasts are now available on the classic grilled and crispy chicken sandwiches, with the chicken tenders and buffalo chicken tenders, and as part of the Scoopie Kids Meals.

The new chicken is raised on a 100-percent vegetarian diet by family-owned Springer Mountain Farms in Georgia, a subsidiary brand of Fieldale Farms.

Springer Mountain Farms is the only poultry company to be American Humane Certified by the American Humane Association. This means that, besides being void of growth stimulants, chickens are never fed animal by-products; have access to clean water; live under conditions that limit stress; and have sufficient space, facilities, shelter and resting areas.

"The partnership with Fieldale Farms is a natural fit," said David Stidham, vice president of marketing for Culver's. "They run their business much like ours, with a focus on quality and an end product that their consumers love. Their naturally-raised chicken means a better taste experience for our guests."

To celebrate the launch of the new chicken, between Sept. 13 and Sept. 27, Culver's is hosting a "Strut Your Stuff" Facebook contest where fans can upload their chicken dance-inspired videos for the chance to win free Culver's food for a year (a $350 value).

Anyone who uploads their video will receive a buy-one-get-one coupon for the new, premium chicken sandwiches. The contest can be found online beginning Sept. 13.
