Dairy Queen's free cone day features orange cones (the good kind) this year

We're mere days away from the start of spring and you know what that means, right? Of course, Cone Day is less than one week away. We're speaking here not of those orange road construction cones that are undoubtedly on their way as well, but rather the curly-topped chocolate-dipped cones of Dairy Queen, which will be free on the first day of spring, Wednesday, March 20. 

This is a move toward improved national happiness. American Dairy Queen Corp. commissioned a national consumer survey that found 92.2 percent of Americans said one of the brand's soft-serve cones would indeed make them happy, according to a press release. In fact, the survey even found people are happier on Free Cone Day each year than they are on their own birthdays. In other words, March 20 may be the day you ask for that raise. 

The brand is also pushing app enrollment in the days immediately following Cone Day when it will offer 50-cent small regular or dipped soft-serve cones via its DQ mobile app, March 21-31. This promotion also includes the brand's orange, creamy and crunchy Dreamsicle dip.
