Denny's debuts QSR model on CSU campus

March 14, 2010

Family dining chain Denny's has opened its first stand-alone quick service restaurant, Denny's Fresh Express, at California State University San Bernardino. Built for portability and designed with speed and convenience in mind, Denny's Fresh Express features a full-service grill.

The restaurant also serves breakfast all day, including Grand Slam breakfasts cooked fresh to order as well as a smoothie bar featuring fruit smoothies blended to order. Mid-day options consist of Denny's new Better Burgers cooked to order and hot Panini sandwiches. The unit also features Denny's Better For You meal choices, options for todays health conscious undergraduates. A 'grab and go' cooler case features freshly prepared salads and fruit cups as well as quick dessert options such as muffins, cookies, brownies and Pancake Puppies.

"Denny's Fresh Express was developed with on-trend branding and design elements to complement our great food. We intend to expand the idea of the stand alone Fresh Express to airports and other college campuses," said Greg Powell, vice president concept innovation, Denny's Corp., in a news release.

Denny's Fresh Express was specifically brought to the San Bernardino campus by the university's food service provider, Sodexo, based on student feedback. Students wanted an all-day breakfast option, affordable on-campus dining and high-quality food choices.

Denny's Fresh Express at California State University San Bernardino is located in the Santos Manuel Student Union and is open from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; hours are limited on weekends and during semester breaks.
