Doc Popcorn has raised more than $12,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation during the brand's Popping for Pink fundraising campaign.
According to a news release, the funds will enable NBCF to provide free mammograms to more than 100 women in need. Since 2012, Doc Popcorn has raised more than $30,000 in total contributions to breast cancer research.
In its third year of the Popping for Pink campaign, Doc Popcorn premiered Sweet Pink, a limited-edition kettle-cooked popcorn flavor with a cherry-flavored pink glaze that was developed in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The specialty flavor, featured on the "Today" show, was available for online purchase and at participating locations nationwide. Ten percent of proceeds from online sales, during the month of October, were donated to NBCF. In-store customers also had the opportunity to donate $1 to the cause to receive a $1 off coupon to use on their next visit.
"We're proud to partner with the National Breast Cancer Foundation to raise awareness and funds about a disease that affects so many people," Doc Popcorn Co-Founder Renee Israel said in the release. "Eighty-six percent of National Breast Cancer Foundation's spending goes directly to their programs such as providing mammograms and education to support women in need. This means our collective donation will provide services specifically to those who need it the most."
