DoorDash offers subscriptions, pick-up options

August 9, 2018

Restaurant delivery service, DoorDash, said this week it is now offering a subscriber model as well as a call-ahead/pick-up option with its restaurants.

For $9.99 monthly, subscription-based DashPass gives members unlimited deliveries without fees on orders of $15 or more. While subscribers can cancel at any time, DoorDash said they save money (about $20 a month on average in their pilot of the program) and order nearly twice as much.

Pickup is targeted at the time crunched customer and is now being used by Smashburger, BJ's and Pokeworks nationally. DoorDash said this new service drives incremental demand for lower-priced offerings like coffee and many breakfast options, while also giving restaurants a better idea of when they'll be hit with a crush of to-go orders.

Over the last nine months, DoorDash has become the fastest-growing last-mile logistics company in the U.S., and is currently available in more than 1,000 cities across the U.S. and Canada.
